Gin Distilled spirit type
Gin is a spirit which derives its predominant flavour from juniper berries. From its earliest origins in the Middle Ages, gin has evolved over the course of a millennium from a herbal medicine to an object of commerce in the spirits industry. Wikipedia
The history of gin is a bit blurry, as is the case with most alcoholic beverages, but most scholars agree that it is of Dutch origin. The liquor derived from grain, and flavored with juniper berries, was so enjoyed by the British troops during the Dutch War of Independence that they made the drink their own. Along with juniper berries, many assorted botanicals lend a hand in creating layers of taste that evolve with each sip. Orange peel, lemon zest, coriander, and clove are just a few of characters you’ll find in the finer gins.

But as we all know, the real chops behind gin lie in its main man: James Bond. Mr. Bond’s martini has become the signature of male sophistication. The manly martini started with three measures of London dry gin, and usually ended in a night of lust, saving the world or, in most cases, both.
